What is the climate on Kilimanjaro througout the year?
The climate is hot and sometimes humid. From December to March. When the north east monsoon blows, it is hot and humid. In April and May heavy rains occur with June to October being the coolest and Driest period the lesser rains falls in November.
Why to climb during the full moon?
A factor to take into accounts is the full moon. It is a unique experience to climbing the roof top of Africa Mountain lit under the shinning moon light only without having to using head lights/Torch
How fit do I have to be?
Many articles state that Kilimanjaro is easily accessible. However you should not underestimate this mountain even though there are no technical mountaineering skills required, but general fitness is necessary. However, the biggest problem for climbers is the low air pressure in highly altitude, which seems to be unrelated to fitness, age or gender.
It is a good idea to start some physical training prior to the trek, which might include aerobic training and hiking to familiarize your body with the rigors of the trek. The fitter you are, the easier the climb will be for you. Determination and will power is another important factor.
What if I am slower than the other trekkers?
There is no need to worry – this is a common concern, it is much better for your body if you proceed slowly and the guides will continuously remind you about this (pole pole) slowly slowly. By walking slowly your body will much better acclimatize to the high altitude. There is plenty of time allotted each day for the treks, even for those who like to go very slowly.
What is the best time to do safaris?
Safaris are possible to do at any time during the year. We have located the exact locations for game viewing of the Big Five and migrations of wildlife during each seasson. For instance in the months of December to March the animals are rather in the Eastern part of the Serengeti. And in April to May they move to the western part of Serengeti.
There are two rainy season. The November rainy season starts at the end of October and consists of short rainfalls. But during the April to May there are heavy rain falls and it is possible that it rains the whole day. Some roads may be broken during this time of rainy season.
This time between April to May we are kindly advised to book the safari to these destinations: National parks Tarangire, Lake manyara, Arusha parks & Ngorongoro crater. But there’s a good chance to experience Serengeti too but the rain forecast must be checked.
What is the accommodation like?
You can book the standard accommodation which is the cheapest or luxury hotels and camping if you expect a comfort.
What kind of cars do you use?
We use are popular Toyota vehicles and cruisers and Tdi Defenders/Land Rovers as they are mostly suitable for the safari trips. As you can see on photos of vehicles, all cars have open roof on the top.
Most of our drivers have been trained by the company in customer relationship, in topics related to the wildlife and vehicles maintenance. They are very educated safari drivers and are speaking foreign languages.
